Welcome from Robert Berry

Head Coach, Colorado Track Club

Welcome everyone,

It’s our hope that you find valuable running and competition resources on our website. We are trying to help people from around the world, regardless of income or access to local coaches, to find excellent training strategies. It is easy to get lost on our website. If you are committed to running your best, I recommend you take the time to study the dozens of free in-depth articles and videos written by some of the great folks in this business - articles about racing in the Olympics, training theory, being a professional, eating disorders, and more.

Colorado Track Club is NOTthe” training method. There are several approaches to building fast runners. The challenge in evaluating running programs is - for me - you must evaluate a program’s effectiveness on how it improves high level athletes. Average athletes, on the other hand, will improve with almost any activity - if they simply work hard, be consistent, and maintain a favorable body composition.

  • It is very challenging to sort through the noise and determine if a training program is effective - how many athletes in the camp eventually test positive for PEDs (cheating), how many athletes actually follow the full program, remove the top two most talented athletes and how well is the team doing, did the top athletes improve from their previous performances or is the team just recruiting already-top talent, etc..

My concern (mission) is… how to improve the male 1:47 800m runner to 1:44.9; how do we improve the 43rd ranked 1500m runner in the world to #14; how do we improve the 16:30 female 5K runner to 15:15. Do these principles apply to the 15 year old kid as well? Those are my concerns and how I evaluate our approach to coaching. The pressure to succeed at this mission is significant for all of us - high schoolers can get larger scholarships, professionals can get contracts or win prize money, our team can receive more funding.

Again, welcome to our website - please consider team membership at our team store, or even leave a tip if you find the information worthwhile. All the best in your running.
